For those of you that may have been wondering where I have been......

I have been getting things ready for the 1st of many celebrations that will be happening in the coming months! My dear son, my precious angel, my busy little boy ..will be turning 2 on Nov 3! We will celebrate his birthday this weekend with a big baseball theme party complete with hot dogs and cracker jacks!!!!! Remember I bought his printable birthday party stuff from Parties By Hardie??

I spent time last week while being off work while the kids were sick to get some of it printed out and organized on what I actually needed and wanted to use.

This is what my table looked like all weekend

I have put it all in a tote and packed it up for the party Saturday !!! We are suppose to have beautiful weather here this weekend...great day to have a party at the park!!!

Kid's say the darnest things!

I have been on a blog hiatus!!! My work and my kids are sucking all the energy I have. I thought I would join this little party though. My son's vocabulary is growing more and more every day.

If you sneeze or cough he'll say "bless you mommy"
if you hand him something he asked for he will say "thank you mommy" good manners...don't know where he learned it!!! I guess they do learn by example!!!!!

He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. It is the only cartoon (besides Barney) that he will actually watch. Last year for Christmas I bought him a giant Mickey Mouse. He hadn't ever done much with it until recently. ( probably because it bigger than he is) For the past few nights we watch the same Mickey mouse movie (adventures in Wonderland) and when its over he'll say "Mickey Mouse go night night" he turns the TV off gets in Bed and goes to sleep. Life size Mickey Mouse has now begun sleeping in bed with us...yes that is right, all of us on one queen size bed. This morning when I went to wake him up, he looked at me with one eye open and asked "Mickey Mouse wake up?"

Ok so that was a bunch of rambling.....but it was cute!!!!!!!!!!

Party Planning Post #2

Well, I did it!!!! I finally called today and rented a pavillon at our local park and the baseball field!!!! I am so excited that Hunter will be able to do something he absolutely loves for his birthday party !!! I ordered his decor from here:

I did a rough draft of his invitations but I am not too sure I like the design....I will play around with a few before I committ!!!

After Ike - 1 year later ! We remember

Yesterday I attended the community "We Remember" celebration held at our town Community Center. Also attending this event was Texas Congressman Kevin Brady (pictured).

He is a very nice man and really has been instrumental in BC Recovery efforts ...he worked hand in hand with our mayor and other county officials after Hurricane Rita and Ike. Ya, you know Rita...the one that hit right after Katrina......that hit us dead on too!!!!!

I have finally started hanging things up and making it OUR home again. I wanted to make a inviting entry for my guest.

The picture frame is too large ...it will be moved. But how cute would this candle be??????

1 Year Ago Today...Hurricane Ike Anniversary!

1 year ago Hurricane Ike ripped my little town to shreds. We quickly grabbed a few boxes and things that were already packed from the 2 weeks before when we evacuated. We thought we just would be spending the weekend in North Texas and coming back home. But everything took a turn for the worse. There were only 14 houses inside the city limits that didn't get water inside. Luckily my grandmothers home was one of those....but not everyone in my family was that lucky. My Parents, my fathers parents and many of my aunts, uncles and cousin all had atleast 2 ft of water in their homes.

This is what I came home to....

I am standing on our front porch looking down at the neighbors house...which is at the end of the street.

I didn't have much time to process it all....a few days later I had to leave my husband and my son and fly out to Florida where my cousin (the maid of honor at my wedding) got married. It was really hard knowing my husband was left to clean the mess by himself and go to his day job and take care of Hunter. I couldn't have helped much. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant. It was a beautiful day for my cousin! She is beautiful and she hosted a great weekend!!! The family members that traveled from Texas to Florida promised to make this weekend about her and not to mention the Hurricane damage.

and when I came home from Florida ....

Most of everything had been ripped out and out by the curb. and yes, that is my bathtub in the front yard.

This is standing in my living room. My husband had been busy. No words can express how much I appreciate all his hard work! He is an angel!!!! He was a very tired and worn out by then.

He fell asleep eating supper ...

Our town pulled together....it made us stronger and we rejoice everyday we see another FEMA trailer being moved out!!! It means another family is back in the their house....making it their home!!!!!!

ALL BOY

IT IS TRUE WHAT THEY SAY...MOTHERS OF BOYS WORK FROM SON UP TILL SON DOWN!!!! MY SON IS AN ALL OUT BOY!!!!!!!! HE IS NON-STOP!!!





I HAD JUST GOTTEN HIM DRESSED TO GO OUT IN THE MARSH WITH HIS DADDY IN HIS PLAY CLOTHES!! (I WISH YOU COULD SEE HIS RUBBER BOOTS!!!!) HE WAS AT THE END OF THE DRIVE WAY WHILE DADDY TALKED WITH THE NEIGHBOR...HE HEARD A THUD...THEN A MUFFLED "DADDDY"....HE TURNED TO FIND MY SON LIKE THIS.

We are still trying to get the mud out of his nose!
